About
To the point.
The Bayonet Point is a documentary channel on true military history for adults: forgotten and firsthand stories, and battle deep-dives told from the squad up.
Why "the point"
The name works three ways. The point of the bayonet, where the fighting was closest. The point man, the soldier out front, whose account we try to put at the center. And the point of the story: why it happened, and what it cost.
How we research
- Firsthand accounts and official records first. After-action reports, unit journals, morning reports, official histories, letters, diaries and oral histories from veterans who were there.
- Documented fact is kept apart from legend. When accounts conflict, we say so. When a well-known story can't be supported by the record, we say that too.
- Every episode lists its sources. Each video page carries a full source list so you can check our work.
- Images are labeled. Archival photos and film are public-domain or properly licensed and credited. Maps and diagrams are our own and are marked as such.
- Corrections are public. If we get something wrong, we fix it on the episode page and note the change.
